Evangelos Tsavalopoulos
Evangelos has more than 25 years of professional experience that spans technology, data protection/privacy, information security, advertising and media. For the last 19 years he has been working for the European Commission and in his current role he is leading the brand new Open Source Programme Office (OSPO) that will be the “go-between” for all activities outlined in the European Commission’s Open Source Strategy and will, among other, assist subject matter experts, promote inner source and help balance internal focus and external activities.

Italo Vignoli is a founding member of The Document Foundation, the Chairman Emeritus of Associazione LibreItalia, an Open Source Initiative (OSI) board member, and co-chair of the ODF Advocacy OASIS Open Project. He co-leads LibreOffice marketing, PR and media relations, co-chairs the certification program, and is a spokesman for the project. He has contributed to large migration projects to LibreOffice in Italy, and is a LibreOffice certified migrator and trainer. From 2004 to 2010 he has been involved in the OOo project. In his professional life, he is a marketing consultant with decades of experience in high tech, and a visiting professor of marketing, public speaking and PR post-graduate courses. He has a Degree in Humanities at the University of Milan, and MBAs in Marketing, Public Relations and Journalism.

Sivan Pätsch is the Research Director at OFE. Before he joined OFE, he gained experience in EU policy making at the Council of the European Union. He also worked as an Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer among other responsibilities. He has a master’s degree in European Affairs from Lund University, Sweden with a thesis on the global expansion of the European data protection standard. In addition, he holds a bachelor’s degree in European Public Administration from the University of Twente, Enschede and from the University of Münster. Sivan is a native German speaker, is fluent in English and is learning Swedish.

Diomidis Spinellis is a Professor in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. His research interests include software engineering, IT security, and cloud systems engineering. He has written two award-winning, widely-translated books: Code Reading and Code Quality: The Open Source Perspective. His most recent book is Effective Debugging: 66 Specific Ways to Debug Software and Systems. Dr. Spinellis has also published more than 300 technical papers in journals and refereed conference proceedings, which have received more than 9000 citations. He served for a decade as a member of the IEEE Software editorial board, authoring the regular “Tools of the Trade” column, and as the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief over the period 2015–2018. He has contributed code that ships with Apple’s macOS and BSD Unix and is the developer of git-issue, CScout, UMLGraph, dgsh, and other open-source software packages, libraries, and tools. He holds an MEng in Software Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science, both from Imperial College London. Dr. Spinellis is a senior member of the ACM and the IEEE. In a previous life he was four times winner of the International Obfuscated C Code Contest. Nowadays he tries to keep his code boring.Talks
